Participation in DTP 2027
Planning for the next round of the Digital Talents Programme (DTP) 2027 is getting underway. We’ll be ensuring that SICP partner companies and the best students from Paderborn University are connected with one another. Will you be taking part (again) next year?
Background to the DTP (in case you’re not yet familiar with it):
The DTP is a complementary continuing education programme aimed at committed students from the Paderborn University and the OWL region whose degree programmes have a clear focus on digitalisation (e.g. Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Computer Science and Business Informatics, but also other study programmes that allow for a specialisation in the field of digitalisation). Applicants apply for the programme and go through a selection process. Applicants accepted onto the programme can take part in workshops and other events (such as company presentations or social events) organised by participating companies and academic departments. To complete the programme with a certificate, participants must, amongst other things, attend a specified number of workshops (8 for Bachelor’s students, 6 for Master’s students) and undertake an internship at one of the participating companies. In addition, it is envisaged that Master’s students will receive mentoring from one of the SICP member companies participating in the DTP, whilst Bachelor’s students will work on a Digital Challenge (a case study set by one of the SICP member companies participating in the DTP). Numerous students have already successfully completed the programme and received their certificate (for example, at the Gewölbekeller in Paderborn). To allow for semesters abroad or similar opportunities, we do not impose any time limits on students regarding how quickly they must complete the programme. As a result, there are currently over 50 active students from the last four intakes on the programme. We hope that the sixth intake will see many more committed and interested students join us (target: 20 to 30 students per intake).

Your path to certification
Check the requirements
There are just a few requirements for being a participant in the SICP Digital Talents Programme:
- You must be enrolled on a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme at Paderborn University or another university or higher education institution.
- You are willing to take part in workshops and other events, which usually take place in person in Paderborn.
- Your degree programme (or your activities outside of it) must have a clear link to digitalisation. This is the case, for example, if you are studying a relevant study programme such as (Business) Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, etc., or if your specialisation is evident from your compulsory elective modules (e.g. Business Administration and Economics with a major in Business Informatics, or the Master’s programme in Culture and Society with a specialisation in Digital Humanities).
- You should still have at least one year remaining until your planned (final) degree completion, so that you can also complete the DTP programme whilst studying.
- Furthermore, you should be motivated to get involved alongside your studies, gain practical insights, build a network and develop personally.
If you are unsure whether you meet the requirements or are a good fit for the programme, please feel free to contact us directly.
Apply now
Submit your application by 30 November, including a short personal statement, your CV, a transcript of your grades, your most recent school report and any other supporting documents you consider relevant. Your letter of motivation should explain why you are interested in the programme, what you can contribute to it and what your expectations of the programme are. Please send your application documents as a single PDF file to the following email address: digital-talents(at)sicp(dot)de. Please use your university email address to contact us. By submitting your application documents, you consent to the processing of your personal data as described in the privacy policy for applications. If you have any questions about the application process, please do not hesitate to contact us.
A shortlist will be drawn up based on your application documents. If your documents meet our requirements, you will be invited to an interview. The aim of the interview is to assess how well you and the SICP Digital Talents Programme are a good fit. The interview may, for example, include questions about your academic background. You will receive further information on this when you are invited to an interview. If the interview is successful, you will receive an offer and further information shortly afterwards.
Take part in workshops and other events
As part of the programme, you can choose from workshops in the areas of digital skills and personal development. Thanks to the content that complements your degree programme, you’ll gain practical insights into topics relating to digitalisation and methodological knowledge, refine your personal profile and actively put what you’ve learnt into practice with your year group.
To complete the programme, Bachelor’s students must attend a total of at least eight workshops and Master’s students a total of at least six, with three workshops in each area being compulsory. You can proceed at your own pace and choose the workshops that interest you and fit into your timetable.
You can also get to know the participating companies better and expand your network at Industry Insights and other events, such as the kick-off or the closing ceremony.
Gain practical insights
Complete a work placement at one of the participating companies or academic departments. The placement should be equivalent to two months’ full-time work, but can also be spread out flexibly. If you’re on a Bachelor’s degree, you’ll work in a team with other Digitalents to tackle the Digital Challenge, a real-world case study. If you are on a Master’s programme, a mentor from one of the participating companies will provide you with personalised, one-to-one support with your career planning.
Get your certificate
At the end of the DTP, you’ll receive a certificate that highlights your outstanding commitment beyond your studies and sets you apart from the crowd. Show that you’re ready to make a difference in a digital world!
