SICP and WFG are hosting an event on 11 November to discuss the responsible use of artificial intelligence in businesses
How can businesses meaningfully integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their workflows whilst both harnessing its potential for innovation and acting responsibly? This question will be the focus of the Paderborn IT reception on Wednesday 11 November, from 5 pm at Zukunftsmeile (research and development cluster located in the Fürstenallee in the city of Paderborn). Under the title ‘AI is a team effort’, the SICP – Software Innovation Campus Paderborn at Paderborn University and the Paderborn Economic Development Agency (WFG) invite you to explore different perspectives on the use of AI in businesses and to engage in discussion.
The focus is not solely on the technology. Rather, it is about the people shaping this transformation: leadership, skills development and the willingness to learn continuously and try out new approaches. Two keynote speakers will shed light on these challenges from different perspectives.
From initial experiments to new business models
Drawing on his own professional development, Alexander Marx demonstrates how working with AI impacts entrepreneurial thinking and action. After many years as an agency owner, he is now an independent AI consultant and head of AI. He draws on his more than 25 years’ experience in the fields of branding, communication and sales to advise companies of all sizes – from small businesses to global players.
Using concrete practical examples, Marx explains how companies can build up AI expertise and turn initial experiments into viable applications. He represents the view that mindset and knowledge are more crucial than committing to specific tools at an early stage. In this way, initial ideas can develop into prototypes and ultimately into new business models.
Innovation requires direction and a willingness to learn
Matthias Henkemeier complements this perspective with the experiences of an IT service provider within the Bertelsmann ecosystem. He works at Arvato Systems, a partner company of SICP, which, amongst other things, serves clients in regulated sectors such as energy supply and healthcare.
Henkemeier explores the question of how companies can foster a spirit of innovation whilst at the same time establishing the necessary guidelines for the use of AI. The focus is particularly on staff development, the role of managers and continuous learning. His presentation illustrates why the successful introduction of AI depends not only on technical solutions, but also on clear framework conditions and a corporate culture that facilitates change.
The Paderborn IT Reception thus offers an opportunity to explore the opportunities and challenges of AI implementation, learn about practical experiences and gain insights to apply to one’s own business practices.
