NeMo.bil milestone meeting at the ADAC

The NeMo.bil project continues to gather pace. At the milestone meeting at the ADAC test centre in Penzing, the project partners presented their progress. Our focus: digital planning and optimisation of the future mobility system.

The dialogue with the project partners was intensive and constructive and the project sponsor officially approved the milestone. We from the SICP were represented on site by Dr Miriam Stumpe and Philipp Speckenmeyer. They gave a brief overview of the status quo of the digital planning tools.

Under the scientific direction of Prof Dr Guido Schryen, Philipp Speckenmeyer and Dr Miriam Stumpe have developed a process that automatically creates routes and timetables for train vehicles (NeMo.Pro). They have modelled an initial convoy concept in a simulation. In it, the towing vehicles (NeMo.Pros) travel on fixed routes and at fixed times - the smaller cabs (NeMo.Cabs) can connect and disconnect at these times. The aim of the simulation is to maximise passenger transport efficiency. Depending on the route, for example, it is more efficient if the cabs do not travel alone but form a convoy. In this way, higher speeds can be achieved with lower energy consumption. In the simulation, the SICP team modelled initial demand scenarios for the city of Höxter and the surrounding area and compared the performance of the mobility system with and without convoys.

We are delighted to be part of this pioneering mobility development.
