This data privacy policy describes how your personal data is processed within the scope of “8th International Conference on Human-Centered Software Engineering (HCSE), 2020, November 30th – December 2nd (Online)”. By issuing this policy, Paderborn University is complying with its duty to provide information pursuant to Art. 13 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter referred to as GDPR). The above data is collected for the purpose of organizing the "8th International Conference on Human-Centered Software Engineering 2020 (HCSE)".

The processing of the above-mentioned data is based on the consent of Data Subjects in accordance with Art. 6  (1) (a) GDPR.

The event will be conducted entirely online. The web conferencing software "Zoom-Meeting Connect 4 Video" from the US company Zoom Video Communications, Inc. will be used to conduct the event. We refer to the Zoom terms of use and privacy policy on the web pages of the Institute for Information and Media Technologies at Paderborn University (IMT). The purpose is to hold the event in times of the Corona pandemic. The legal basis for the use of the web conference software for the "8th International Conference on Human-Centered Software Engineering 2020 (HCSE)" is in this case Art. 6 (1) (e), (3) GDPR in conjunction with Section 3 (1) DSG NRW, Section 3 (1) HG NRW.

The web conference won't be recorded.

3. Transferring Your Personal Data

Your personal data, which is processed by Paderborn University within the framework of the event "8th International Conference on Human-Centered Software Engineering 2020 (HCSE)", will generally not be transferred to third parties, subject to the data processing described below. In individual cases, this can be done on the basis of a legal permission, for example, transmission to law enforcement agencies for the purpose of investigating criminal offences within the framework of the regulations of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Strafprozessordnung StPO) or for the purpose of asserting claims for damages in the event of copyright infringements. We have concluded a contract with the software provider Zoom Video Communications, Inc. Within Paderborn University only those departments and employees will receive your personal data if they are authorized and if they need it to fulfill the above mentioned purpose(s).

4. Duration of Storage of Your Personal Data

Your personal data, which we process within the framework of the event "8th International Conference on Human-Centered Software Engineering 2020 (HCSE)" at Paderborn University as described above, will generally be deleted as soon as they are no longer needed for the purposes for which they were collected. Data collected with the registration form will be stored for a period of 1 year and then deleted. If necessary, the documents will be taken over by the University Archives, where they are usually kept for an unlimited period of time.

If and insofar as the processing of your personal data is based on your consent, your data will only be stored until you revoke your consent, unless there is also another legal basis for processing (Art. 17 (1) (b) GDPR).

In addition, the privacy policy of Zoom Connect 4 Video as well as the general privacy policy for the website of Paderborn University applies.

5. Your Rights as a Data Subject

As a data subject, you may assert the rights granted to you by the GDPR at any time; these are:

  • the right to know if and which of your personal data is being processed in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR, Section 12 DSG NRW;
  • the right to have any inaccurate personal data about you rectified or incomplete data completed in accordance with Art. 16 GDPR;
  • the right to have your personal data deleted (erased) in accordance with Art.17 GDPR, Section 10 DSG NRW;
  • the right to have the data processing restricted in accordance with Art. 18 GDPR;
  • the right to transmit any data about you in accordance with Art. 20 GDPR.

6. Objection to Processing of Personal Data and Withdrawal of Consent

In accordance with Art. 21 GDPR, you have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you which is based on Art. 6 (1) (e) GDPR. The right to object pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR vis-à-vis a public body does not apply if there is a compelling public interest for the processing that overrides the interests of the data subject or if a legal provision requires the processing (Art. 14 DSG NRW). If you want to exercise your right to object as stipulated in Art. 21 GDPR, all you need to do is send an e-mail to sauer@upb.de .

Any consent that may have been granted can be revoked (withdrawn) in whole or in part at any time without providing a reason. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on the consent before its withdrawal (Art. 7 (3) GDPR). If you revoke your consent, we will not be allowed to continue the data processing based on this consent in the future. If you want to revoke your consent in whole or in part, all you need to do is send an e-mail to sauer@upb.de .

7. Right to Lodge a Complaint

8. Automated Decision-making / Profiling

We do not use automated decision making or profiling according to Art. 22 GDPR.

9. Validity of Data Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to amend this data privacy policy in order to revise it in compliance with any changes in relevant laws or regulations or to better serve your needs. The valid and applicable version of this data privacy policy is the latest version published by Paderborn University. Therefore, please note the current version number of the data privacy policy.
